By accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believing in His life, death and resurrection, we are set free from the wages of death and set free in Him.
It is not merely being set free from something, like addiction or trauma, but set free in Christ. For it is through Christ that we have been set free and have life in Him.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9
Living in this freedom, set free from sin, does not mean that we are to continue living in sin (Galatians 5:1). You will still face trials, and wage war with the passions of your flesh (1 Peter 2:11) and with the spirits of the enemy.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." -Ephesians 6:12
And in our walk with Jesus, by reading and being in His Word, we renew our minds.
From the life we had, the family, upbringing, culture, values, and experiences we had, that formed us from this fallen world, sin (Genesis 3), through Christ, we get to be transformed. From glory to glory, more and more in His likeness each and every day as we walk with Him.
FREEDOM. TRANSPARENCY. EXPRESSION
As we are set free in Christ's freedom, we still have a choice - to continuously walk with Jesus. Through transparency, the heart act of humbling ourselves with humility, Jesus calls us to surrender our old ways to Him. And when we experience His healing, transformation, and are in relationship with Him, there is a supernatural flow and outpouring of expression from our beings. To worship God, tell others about Jesus, and share our testimonies!
Not that freedom, transparency, and expression are in order or specific to receive Christ in our lives. They are a reminder of our daily walk with God.
